Everyone loves the summer especially when the sun is out! However we need to be very careful of the rays as being exposed to the sun can have its serious consequences. And we all want to enjoy our summer as much as we can right?? :)

#1 - KEEP HYDRATED

Long exposure to the heat and sun can be dangerous especially when you’re not hydrated enough. Drinking water and keeping hydrated is easy and will help you from preventing disorientation and will help you feel energised!

#2 – PROTECT YOUR SKIN

Despite what most people think, using sunscreen will not prevent you from getting a tan but it will in fact protect you from the strong UV rays. This helps protect you from getting bad sunburns but most importantly from having certain diseases such as melanoma. There’s nothing worse for your skin than having sunburn on top of another sunburn. SPF as low as 15 is the minimal amount of sunscreen you should use! We recommend 30+.

#3 – PROTECT YOUR EYES

Sunlight doesn’t affect only your skin. It’s imperative to protect your sight as well! A good way of doing this is by purchasing a good pair of UV protected sunglasses and wearing them when you’re out in the sunlight for long periods of time.

#4 – BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AT THE BEACH

One of the most dangerous and unpredictable things when you’re at the beach is the sea. We should respect the sea at all times. Ways to do this is by analysing the sea prior to going in (see how big and aggressive the waves are) and looking out for any red flags or signs that could alert you.

#5 – AVOID DIRECT SUNLIGHT BETWEEN 11AM UNTIL 2PM

The most dangerous hours to be exposed to sunlight is from 11am to 2pm. This is when UV rays are at its strongest and burn you more than if you were out during the rest of the day. It's good to avoid direct exposure to the sun between those hours in order to enjoy your vacation and to keep your skin healthy! We do, however, recommend an ice lolly under the sun! :)
